NEO Retires from Freelancer - Nov. 3, 2003, 6:07 a.m. Crying Devil

Freelancer was released roughly six months ago. From day one, NEO had established itself as a more-than-formidable force on the Elite server. Having fewer than five members, we were able to overcome any who would oppose us, and as we grew to our current size our strength only increased exponentially.

The [NEO] tag has become more famous in the Freelancer community than we had thought possible. It has directly instigated over six hundred posts on The Lancer's Reactor multiplayer forum, over eighty on the Lancer's HQ forum, and countless others on various clan and server forums. People we have never encountered before flame us, and we have been banned on sight from servers who prefer the impetuous apprehensions of moral victims who had never known us. The reputation we have earned is beyond words. People have formed clans solely dedicated to our demise, they make baseless cheating/hacking/whatever-works-accusations, and they even join random servers under our identities to further disgrace us. Needless to say, prolonged toleration of this kind has grown unmistakably cumbersome and has now befallen amongst other detrimental figments of our past. NEO is retiring from Freelancer. While I will satisfy the slim likelihood of a revival, at the present time, and we have patiently waited to announce this, lest we need to repeal it quickly, have observed that the communities of Freelancer, in our regard, are only increasing in their exigency, and require more attention than we are willing to contribute.

Words cannot properly describe the gratitude we have for the administrators of the Elite server, who supplied us with a home these past six months. Had we been on any other server, I am nearly certain we would have grown tired of Freelancer long ago. Elite's community was active and dynamic, with a clan environment unmatched anywhere else. We will not easily forget those we met on Elite, nor will we forget the clans that stood by our side when they were needed most. We will not forget WP, which was the only clan to ever put up a considerably toilsome resistance. We will not forget the controversies that surrounded us; the altercations that indirectly actuated the decline of the self-appreciative style of play that was once Freelancer.

We say thank you, and we say good-bye. NEO hereby retires indefinitely from the public political scene of Freelancer, www.lancersreactor.com the Elite server and any and all other public Freelancer server(s). We are uninterested in foreign entities that remain active in Freelancer and we ask to be left alone, and entirely and inexorably disconnected from all Freelancer subcultures. We will enforce with utmost jurisdiction to keep our original and genuine [NEO] tag off of all public Freelancer servers. Anyone you find hereafter, I assure you, is fraudulent. Again, I thank you, and wish everyone the best of fortunes henceforth, as we are finished here, though we naturally reserve the right to change any aforementioned terms without prior notice. While you may or may not discover some kind of solace, the [NEO] tag is only finished here, but we are still a considerable arrangement of able minds and friends, and will strive to maintain our brotherhood, in the heat of battle, or in some other happenstance to which we are all chess pawns.
Graciously,
